Our Story, Our People, Our Purpose

Born From Kenya's Wild Spirit

We are not just a tour company. We are storytellers, conservationists, and lifelong students of the African wilderness, united by our love for this land.

Who We Are

About Skynile Adventure Tours

Skynile Adventures Ltd is a Kenya-registered, KATO-certified safari and travel company based in Mombasa.  We specialize in wildlife safaris, coastal excursions, cultural tours, and tailor-made Kenya travel experiences for individuals, families, honeymoon couples, and corporate groups from across the world. Our team of 30+ local guides, naturalists, logistics coordinators, and hospitality professionals is not hired hands. They are Kenyans who grew up near the savannah and the Indian Ocean. Their knowledge is not learned from textbooks but absorbed through years of living in, protecting, and exploring the ecosystems they now share with you. We are proud members of the Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO), certified by Eco-Tourism Kenya, and consistent holders of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. But what we are most proud of is the thousands of travelers who return to Kenya. They come back because of the great experience we gave them the first time

What Guides Us

More Than a Safari Company

Community First

Over 80% of our staff are employed from communities adjacent to our safari areas. We source food from local farms and markets, prioritize community-owned lodges and campsites, and run an active school sponsorship program that has funded secondary education for 47 children of our guides and camp staff since 2014.

Authentic Experiences

We reject the one-size-fits-all itinerary. Every trip we plan begins with a conversation — about your pace, your interests, your fears, your dreams. We then craft something that is genuinely, specifically yours. No two Skynile journeys are the same, because no two travellers are the same.

Safety & Accountability

All our guides hold current KATO certification and First Aid qualifications. Our vehicles undergo monthly safety inspections and carry comprehensive insurance. We provide every client with a 24/7 emergency contact line and pre-trip briefings that cover medical, safety, and wildlife protocols clearly and without alarm.

Honest Communication

We tell you what wildlife sightings are realistic for your dates. We tell you when a road will be muddy. We tell you if a lodge has changed quality. We do not oversell, overpromise, or hide the fine print. Trust, for us, is not a marketing word — it is a deliberate daily practice, and the reason 34% of our guests have booked with us more than once.

The Founder's Story

A Vision Born on a Dusty Mara Track

For years, Mickie Mwakadi guided large international tour operators. He was good at it, legendary, even, among regular visitors to the Mara. But he grew frustrated with the volume-driven, copy-paste approach to safaris: forty tourists to a vehicle, pre-scripted narratives, five-star lodges with no connection to the communities around them.

In 2011, with his life savings, a second-hand Land Cruiser, and one trusted colleague, Halima. Mickie Mwakadi launched Skynile Adventures Ltd from a rented desk in Mombasa. His promise was simple: “Every guest gets the safari I would give my own family.”

Fifteen years later, that promise remains the foundation of everything we do.

What Sets Us Apart

Why Travellers Choose Skynile — And Come Back

There are many tour operators in Kenya. Here is what makes us genuinely different — not in our own words, but in patterns we see repeated in our guest reviews, year after year.

Guides Who Genuinely Know

Our guides are not reading from a script. They grew up in these landscapes. Mike can identify a lion by its face the way you recognise a neighbour. Halima has been tracking the same elephant family in Amboseli for eleven years. This depth of knowledge transforms a game drive into something approaching a conversation with the wild.

Itineraries Built Around You

We begin every new client relationship with a detailed conversation — your interests, your fitness level, your travel style, your must-sees and your deal-breakers. Then we build something from scratch. If you want to spend three hours photographing a dung beetle, your guide will wait with you. If you need afternoon naps, we build them in. This is your trip.

Total Transparency

Our quotes are itemized. We show you exactly what you are paying for and exactly what is not included. We tell you when park fees have increased, when a lodge has had a change of management, or when a particular route might be difficult in certain seasons. You will never reach Kenya and find something materially different from what you were promised.

Real Support When It Matters

Our 24/7 emergency line is answered by a human being — not a call centre, not an automated system. When a guest had a medical emergency in Samburu at 2am in 2023, Joseph was on the phone within four minutes coordinating a medical evacuation. This is the standard we hold ourselves to every single day, not just in the brochure.

Travel That Gives Back

Every time you travel with us, a portion of your booking goes directly to the ecosystems and communities you are visiting. You will leave Kenya knowing that your holiday — beyond the memories — helped pay a ranger's salary, kept children in school, and contributed to a world where the wildlife you came to see still has wild places to live.

Small Groups, Big Experience

We cap our shared safaris at 6 guests per vehicle. We believe that wildlife encounters are intimate experiences and that a full minibus of 24 tourists destroying the mood of a leopard sighting is simply bad practice — for the guests and for the animal. Smaller groups mean better sightings, better photographs, and a guide who can actually respond to your questions.
